CANverge

ESP32-powered CAN interface with a built-in web app: DBC decoding, Wi‑Fi streaming to RealDash, logging, and I/O mapping— firmware will be open source.

CANverge WebApp

Connect to CANverge instantly over Wi-Fi through a built-in web interface. View decoded CAN signals in real time, configure inputs and outputs, and manage your setup from any device—no software installation required.

Wi-Fi Config

Configure Wi-Fi in seconds with support for access point and client modes. Secure your device and manage connectivity without needing external tools.

CAN Signals

View live CAN data with real-time signal decoding using DBC files stored on the device. Monitor values with names, units, and scaling applied.

IO Config

Map digital and analog inputs/outputs to CAN signals. Apply scaling directly in the web interface to integrate sensors and control systems seamlessly.

CANverge’s firmware is being released as open source so you can inspect, extend, and trust what runs on your hardware. The public repository and license will be announced alongside the hardware launch.

Hardware (In Development)

CANverge is currently in active development. The prototype hardware is already functional and being tested on real vehicles, with a refined enclosure and final PCB design planned for Version 1.

CANverge Dev Board

CANverge is currently being developed and validated using a dedicated development board. This platform allows rapid iteration of firmware and hardware to ensure stability and performance before the final Version 1 release.A refined production PCB and enclosure are already in progress.

CANverge Prototype

The current working prototype combines the CANverge development board with an I/O expansion module, enabling full testing of digital and analog functionality. This setup is actively used for real-world validation, with all I/O features planned to be fully integrated into the Version 1 hardware.

Features

  • Platform - Hardware is based on ESP32-S3.

  • CAN - Classical CAN; default 500 kbit/s in current firmware. User-selectable bitrates planned.

  • Wi-Fi - 802.11 client (STA) and access point (AP); browser-based configuration.

  • Web UI - On-device HTTP server; no desktop app required.

  • DBC - Parses DBC file stored on microSD. WebApp displays decoded signals in real time.

  • Streaming - RealDash-oriented CAN stream.

  • Logging - MicroSD CAN logging useful for debugging CAN systems.

  • Configurable I/O - Supports 2x Digital Inputs, 2x Analog Inputs and 2x low side outputs. All configurable in the WebApp. Rules engine planned.

  • Updates - Over-the-air firmware updates.

  • Power Input - Input rated at 7v - 36v DC and features automotive grade power filtering and reverse polarity protection.
